This year, Afghan Charity Week is proud to support Mothers of Afghanistan through their Widow Sponsorship project.
Across Afghanistan, many widowed mothers are left carrying the full responsibility of providing for their children in extremely difficult circumstances. For families already facing poverty, insecurity, and limited opportunities, the loss of a husband often places enormous pressure on the entire household.
This project is focused on supporting vulnerable widows and helping ease the burden on the families who depend on them. Through practical support, it aims to help mothers care for their children with greater dignity, stability, and security.
Widow sponsorship is about more than short-term relief. It is about strengthening the person holding the household together. When a mother is supported, the impact reaches her children, her home, and the wider family around her.
