Educate a Child (2024)
Through Afghan Charity Week 2024, we raised an incredible £10,588 in support of the “Educate a child” initiative – a collaboration project between ACW and the Kabul-based Hayat Orphanage.
This initiative is committed to tackling educational inequality by supporting orphaned and underprivileged children in Afghanistan through free, quality education and essential learning resources. With funds raised by our student-led campaign, ACW is helping deliver long-term educational access to children facing some of the harshest socio-economic conditions.

Supporting orphaned and disadvantaged children through education
Delivery of free schooling, resources, and trained teachers
Recognising the immense educational barriers caused by years of conflict, instability, and poverty, the initiative focuses on empowering children through structured learning environments within Hayat-run orphanages. Funds are allocated toward teacher recruitment, salaries, and the provision of vital materials such as textbooks, stationery, and other classroom essentials.
The goal is to foster not only literacy and academic development but also a safe, nurturing environment that promotes holistic child development. By implementing modern teaching methods and regular educational assessments, the project seeks to ensure that these children are not left behind – but are instead equipped with the skills and knowledge for a brighter future.

Impact Goals

Fund Distributions
The £10,588 raised by ACW in 2024 has been allocated directly to the educational needs of children under Hayat Orphanage’s care.
Funds have been used for:
Salaries for qualified teachers employed to deliver structured learning within the orphanage classrooms
Textbooks, stationery, and school supplies for enrolled children
Classroom equipment and learning materials to support effective teaching and engagement
Periodic maintenance and improvement of learning environments to ensure they are child-friendly and conductive to education
Distributions are managed transparently by the Hayat Orphanage administrative team, with regular reporting and financial oversight to ensure all funds are used solely for the benefit of the children.
Through close coordination with teachers and programme staff, each child’s academic progress, attendance, and overall well being is monitored.
By focusing on both quality and accountability, this initiative ensures that every pound raised goes towards building a better future for Afghan children – one classroom at a time.
