Southampton's 2025 Fundraising Efforts​ for Afghanaid

This year ACW have decided to partner with leading charity, Afghanaid.

Afghanaid is a British humanitarian and development organisation established in 1983. For 40 years, Afghanaid has worked in Afghanistan with millions of families in some of the country's most remote and underserved communities.

Their mission is to provide rural Afghans with the training and tools they need to help themselves, their families, and their communities. We support basic service provision, improve livelihoods, strengthen the rights of women, and help communities respond to humanitarian crises.

This year’s initiative focuses on addressing food shortages in Afghanistan through the construction of greenhouses. This sustainable approach enhances food security, combats hunger, and provides rare employment opportunities for Afghan women, many of whom are the sole providers for their families.

With the Taliban's restrictions on women working, this initiative offers a crucial opportunity for them to earn a livelihood and support their families.
